Blasting lettering by
glassman
I'm biding on a job that needs block letters etched into flashed glass for
a memorial window. Any templates or clever shortcuts to do this, short of
cutting out all the letters in resist? Maybe a computer driven outfit that
does this? Years ago there used to be a company that sold dye cut block...

Brass or Bronze? by
Liam
I usually use brass for rebar. My supplier told me he caries bronze bar as
well. I don't know anything about bronze other than that the Greeks killed
alot of people with it. Is it softer or more flexable than Brass?

surface texture of cast glass by
lisanne
I am casting small (up to 10") sculptures using a 50-50 casting
plaster & silica mix and clear bullseye cullet. I have experimented
with various schedules but it seems no matter what I do, the surface
of my pieces come out murkey and rough. Short of polishing, what can
I do to get a smoother...

Getting Closer to bailing out by
glassman
I have a nearby friendly basement competitor that may buy my business &
building. He needs a new place, and the timing seems perfect. A few
factors are my worsening arthritis. The state of the industry. The real
estate market. I'm a bit young to retire this early, but I'm looking
forward...

Some opinions please, maybe some advice by
[email protected]
Hello all,
I've been working with leaded glass for little over a year now and
starting to get the hang of the technique. At least, I think do. I've
made some quite different things, but I'm sort of looking for a style
of my own.
I know I like the ornaments and patterning of eastern...

First design using Glass Eye by
Michael[_2_]
Hi everybody!
Would appreciate your comments on this design, pro and con. I know I
probably need to break the border up into smaller pieces. Other than
that, what do you think? It is targeted for a transom-like window
measuring around 20" x 44". If the link wraps, you might have to
paste the...

Patina Issue.... by
Jman
Hello there,
I'm presently having a problem getting a that 'rich copper' color from
my solder. I'm using the "Classique" brand Copper Patina (stuff is
blue in the bottle). Anyway, the solder seems to be turning out a bit
'Pinker' than that nice glossy Copper Patina I often see in other's
works....

Pattern generation? by
Michael[_2_]
I've been playing with the Glass Eye pattern software. I'm interested
in the various ways you all create your patterns. Do you use Glass
Eye or some other software? Does anybody skip computers totally and
do the whole process by hand?
If you use a computer, do you print out a large pattern in...

Posting of Patterns and Pictures by

I've got some designs that I've put together using Glass Eye and I'd
like to get some feedback on them. I haven't done it yet, but I
assume there is a way that I can export it from Glass Eye as a JPG or
GIF.
I don't know where to put them, though. Can you folks recommend
somewhere I can post a...

Stained Glass Software by
Michael[_2_]
I have got several transom-shaped windows in my house. Stained glass
windows to fit inside of them will be my first foray into stained
glass.
I am not much of an artist, but from all the pattern books I've found
available, that shouldn't prove to be much problem. Choosing the
proper glass to use...

Window reinforcement by
Michael[_2_]
I've seen rigid metal reinforcement bars stretching across big
windows. I've never used them but I know they are necessary
sometimes. Can you recommend a source of information for how the bars
are attached to a window? Also, I've been looking at several stained
glass web sites, but I haven't...

controller by
J
Hello,
I recently aquired a kiln, but there are some issues. The biggest
issue is that it runs on 220v and i do not have a 220v outlet in the
garage i plan on using it in. I was wondering are the heating elements
in it specific to 220v or if i was to replace the controller with a
120v controller...
