Hi Everyone, I've just finished posting before and after pictures of my sewing room on my picturetrails page. www.picturetrails.com/quiltygurl Just two before pictures......it was way too embarrassing to post much of the disaster that I let happen down there. I was inspired by the posts from Kim,...

OT - Jam season! by Johanna Gibson
What a glorious day. I wanted to get an early start today, because I knew the weather would be fairly hot for Scotland (22C) but alas... the best laid plans... However, I took the 13:32 train to Cupar, which arrived just before 2. I walked 2 miles out of the town, enjoying the hot sun,...

birthing and tying quilts by Charlotte Hippen
I have a quilt I'd like to birth and tie, but I have never birthed or tied a quilt before so I have a few questions. First is how do you handle batting while birthing a quilt? And has anyone here tied a quilt with embroidery floss. I think it would give the quilt a neat look, but didn't know how...

Pictures at last unconventional applique by Cheryl
Thanks to some kind help from nzlstar I now have at least some pics online. The Mardi Gras quilt is still under construction, and has hit a prolonged pause because so many people come to visit or do classes I don't get much time to work on it. There is a pencil design of the quilt as I plan...

anyone still use their vcr? by quilter
I'm cleaning today - well, not really, but wandering aimlessly from room to room thinking about cleaning...I just had a thought: anyone want to trade VCR tapes for fat quarters or scraps? I have donated a lot of videos over the past few years, but still have quite a few left that I'd like to part...

My 1st cousin is getting married next October. She was born when I was 14 and she was my favorite cousin. I babysat her quite a bit. But I have not had much contact with her in the last 15 years or so. She was in my wedding and my 13 year old daughter will be in her wedding. Now I need to make...

OT Scariness from 1951 by NightMist
http://www.livejournal.com/users/blinkytreefrog/80660.html OK, so maybe the guy who wrote the book was conservative even for his day, but geez! NightMist thanking her lucky stars she wasn't even born til 10 years after this thing came out. -- "To repeat what others have said, requires education;...

SM prices online? by muse9
I keep dreaming of someday getting a new SM but none of the SM company websites give prices. I do realize that prices can vary quite a bit from dealer to dealer but I'm just looking for a "ball park figure" based on suggested list price. I guess I would like to know if some of the machines I'm...

I just received a very long email that was forwarded to me from a friend who knows the writer. It's very interesting and informative. I'm afraid that posting it on the newsgroup would be a pain in the neck for some of you, but I'm also sure many of you would like to read it. I could forward it...

As for my own bit of drama by georg
My brother-in-law has announced his intentions of divorcing my sis, because he caught her cheating on him with a married man. I had to find out from my brother, who found out from my parents, who were told by a formal letter from my brother-in-law. It's a bit of a shock. Since then, there have been...

Rotary Cutters - aGAIN! by Tina
Ok, could someone please explain this phenomenon to me? We sew right? We use rotary cutters, to cut up little pieces of fabric, which we then sew back together, right? We pride ourselves, us wonderful quilters, on precision piecing, corners meeting, 1/4" perfection, right?
