Smaller than a dime? by
Polly Esther[_5_]
I was just putting big goofy eyes on tropical fish. Really.
My manner of appliqué is seriously sturdy. I gather a circle of fabric
around a dime, press it hard, ease the coin out and stitch the circle down.
Firmly.
This technique won't win any prizes but it will last through daily...

OT wear an apron? by
Polly Esther[_5_]
This morning my sister asked me to make an apron for her. I couldn't be
more surprised if she'd taken to wearing a tiara. She says her hardware
store has a gift section that sells aprons made by the local quilt guild and
they are quite expensive. Of course, she doesn't know diddly about the...

Is patience required? by
Jennifer in Ottawa
This was the question that was forwarded to me this morning along with
3 photos attachments of 3 quilt blocks: a framed 4-patch, a log cabin
block and a rail fence block. The originator of the question wants to
make a simple quilt and wanted to know if 'patience' was required to
make a quilt.
I...

OT - Recipes which use olive oil or balsamic vinegar? by
Johanna Gibson
Hello folks,
I received olive oil for Christmas - went to the cupboard and I
already have 3 bottles of it! Plus 2 bottles of balsamic vinegar.
Clearly I'm not using it as fast as I am receiving it.
Do any of you have great recipes for using these ingredients? I
would like to try them...

Right, I'm off! by
Kate Dicey
Galloping to Yorkshire for New Year about Lunchtime tomo... Later today!
I just realised it's 3:15 am! I have packed all the luggage and the
bedding will get flung in on top, but I still have to pack the whales
and stuff the remains of the venison into the freezer...
Don't eat all the chocolate...

Fudge... by
Kate Dicey
We like fudge, don't we?
Possibly not all of us like it quite as much as chocolate...
However, in this instance, fudge is what we need, and chocolate will
have to wait until later...
Remember before Christmas that I got yelled at by a Fat Quarter book
quilt that wanted to be made? Well, I did...

Hey, y'all - mind if I sit in? by
Karen Johnson
It has been a long time since I've poked my head into rctq -- what, 12
months? 18 months? Maybe longer? I apologize for disappearing for
awhile, but the truth is it was just too hard for me to log on after
MeSue passed on. She just left too big a hole in my heart.
But it's great to see that a...

RCTQers PLEASE READ: RCTQ 2005 BOM Quilt by
[email protected]
I've retitled this post from my original to get more exposure. It was
originally titled " Simply Quilts - Billy Lauder" about the episode
where Billy talked about her internet "guild" and the quilt they made
together. It gave me an idea about RCTQ. So here is the repost under a
better subject...

May I ask for prayers too? by
Tina
But not for me - for my mom.
I got a very garbled phone call from my mom this evening about 7:00
p.m. She was hysterical.
She lives in an old neighborhood, that is starting to run down and is
now filling up with bad elements.
Some people moved in cross ways from her about a year ago with pit...

Okay, my friends. Trees up or not, I can't wait another minute. For
sure, I am the only old quilter in The Swamp, awake and smiling to myself.
The gators are smiling too. Here you go:

OT -- On Basic Respect by
the black rose
If out of anger at 9/11 or unpleasant childhood experiences
or what-have-you, I were to call the Islamic holy month of
Ramadan something like Ram-A-Dam, I would get yelled at.
Deservedly so.
Similarly, if I were to slaughter the name of any religion's
high holy days, I would get slammed. ...

Half a happy dance by
Sandy Foster
The quilt circle I attend here recently had a block exchange with a
Christmas theme, and I finished my top! Of course, it isn't quilted yet,
and it's not likely to be in time for Christmas; but at least the blocks
are all connected now. ;) You can see it at the bottom of...

3 1/2 month old quilter :o) by
Susie
Hi everyone,
I've written here a few times. I mostly lurk to see what I can learn.
I started quilting on Oct. 11th and I think I might be addicted. :o)
I've done a pillow, a few table runners, placemat, a Santa decoration and
six various blocks.
I started a mystery quilt on New Years Eve. It was...

How do you quilt? by

I hand quilt, but I can never seem to find a comfortable chair or position
to do this. How do you do it? Are there any stands that help? I have a
quilt that I want to get finished, but it is just a case of finding
somewhere or a position to sit in. Where do you rest the rest of the quilt,
so...
