Results of those Long, Cold February Days. by
John
I have been waiting for spring to arrive here in the Midwest, and I
made myself a large sketching board to take out into the woods and
sketch pastoral views. I needed a larger carry bag to handle the
board, sketch pad, pencils and all the other impedimenta that goes
along with such endeavors. Here...

Copying RTW by
Melinda Meahan - take out TRASH to send
I was trying to find someone on the PACC referral list near me who would
copy a jumper that fits me perfectly, and there isn't anybody on the
list who says they do that kind of thing, and there are pitifully few
people around me anyway. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to
find someone who...

POLL: How did you learn to sew? by
Julia Sifers
I have been recently inspired to up the ante on my sewing skills. Since
I am mostly self taught, I'm wondering what other avenues I should try
to learn more. So I pose the question:
What experience has made the greatest positive impact on your sewing
abilities?
Was it a particular person? A...

Very new to sewing using a pattern by
[email protected]
How do you use sewing patterns? I have 3 daughters and two of the
would use the same pattern, just different sizes. How do I preserve
the pattern? Are you suppose to cut the paper? Or trace it? If I cut
it then, I won't be able to use it again for the 2nd size. Sigh...help
please. I want to...

Iron Cleaning by
Tricia
I got iron problems. I got fusible interfacing on my iron a while ago
-- used Iron Off to clean that off -- as far as I can tell, I followed
directions very well.....fast forward to the last two months or so
(mind you my iron only gets a real workout on days like today -- the
domestic side of my...

Recommendation for machine by
Chambers
Hi,
I need to purchase a sewing machine for occasional use.The machine will be
used for minor garment repairs and perhaps some craft projects. I don't want
to spend more than $200 on a machine.
Thanks in advance.

Quick question about replacing underwires in RTW bras by
[email protected]
Hello hello --
I've been scouring the internet for information about replacing broken
underwires in store bought bras, but I haven't found much aside from
the FAQ about underwires and bra manufacture by Babs Woods that brought
me here. I plan on ordering replacement underwires from Sew Sassy,...

I need help with a serger technique! by
OldKnitter
Hi. I'm not sure I've even made it to the right group, so please feel
free to redirect me.
I got a serger in November, and I also bought a couple of books that
seem to cover the basics. Except one. Or, maybe the instructions are
there but I'm too dense to translate them. My problem is that I...

Bernina fraud on eBay by
sewfine
Yes, it's unfortunate but true that Berninas and other high end sewing
machines are frequent fraud items on eBay. However, the auction
Phaedrine referenced appears to be legitimate. Yes, Bernina says only
the tech is supposed to be able to see how many hours are on the
machine, but everyone who...

Please Help Me ID this Nelco (and find a manual) by
[email protected]
Hello:
I bought a used Nelco sewing machine for my 15-year old daughter. She
wants to take classes at JoAnn and I thought this might be a good
machine to start on. I got it at an auction. While I don't know much
about sewing machines in particular, I do know a bit about mechanical
things in...

But now I'm just stumbling around in the Google of my twilight

the comfort of your written voices. Ay, verily, I say unto you, I have
come forth from the Web wilderness, seeking to hold my own in the brave

question about a simple machine to buy by
Rut
If I want a simple sewing machine to do nothing more than ocassional
pant hemming what would you recommend. I add the disclaimer that I
know nothing about sewing but I am assuming that hemming pants might
be one of the easiest sewing jobs, something I could figure out on my
own?
Thanks,
Rut

Stupid Americans! -- Stupid... Stupid... STUPID!!! __________==___ agymdovo by
Vicki Baylus
Ok guys and dolls,
This is a wine making list, and so far it's been the most polite list that I
have ever read.
Let's make wine, not war, let's not talk politics or religion (except that
of Dionysius).
And for the record, I did not vote for the incompetent idiot . . . and I'm
not real happy...

Question about fleece by
aeromom
The clerk who cut the lovely fleece fabric I bought to make baby blankets
told me that I didn't need to sew the sides. She said I could just cut it
and it would stay--even through many washings. Does anyone know if this is
true. I find it hard to believe.

Hi people,
I am looking for figures to sketch clothing onto that I can download. I
can't draw people to save myself!! I want to have a go at designing stuff
and seeing it on paper before I make it! (love doing things back to front).
I have searched the internet to no-avail. I don't think I have...

Wedding Pictures by

I handed my digital camera off to one of the guests, and of course she
wasn't very familiar with it so some of the pictures are a little
fuzzy. However, here are the first pictures from the wedding:

Has anyone made this project from this simplicity pattern? by
ferret_lover
Hi everyone. I'm not really new here, but I dont post a lot. I'm more
of a lurker. I'm learning to sew and trying to get some insight on some
of the things about this sewing stuff. I recently purchased a
Simplicity Pattern # 9004. It is pet crafts-making a "tent" bed, a
"fish" bed, and a little...

Wild Ginger - Coats by
duh who
Anyone who has the Wild Ginger software (I'm getting the Tailor Made), how
are their instructions on making coats, with the lining, insulation, etc.
Is it a royal pain? Do they cover the bases?
