Complaint Box | Picky Eaters
By SUSAN GOLDBERG
P.C. Vey
Having friends over for dinner used to involve a minimal and fairly
unremarkable to-do list: There were groceries to buy, along with flowers
and a couple of bottles of semi-respectable wine. I would put out...

Some revisionist ideas by
John
After completing one and starting another of the same type of quilts,
using solid colors for the fabric, I have come to the conclusion that
I like solids. Or blenders, if not solids. The new quilt I am doing
for my wife is a similar size and pattern,(9 patch) but in solid
colors of Burgundy sashing...

Free motion tension problems--help! by
Michelle C.
Took my long awaited (I've been gathering my courage) into free motion
yesterday. While I didn't notice any tension problems on the block I've
been practicing on, I'm having problems with the quilt. It looks okay
on the front, but on the back it's as if the top thread is too loose
(looping...

Un Stitching! by
Pat in Virginia
Yesterday the County Quilting Gremlin hit my house. (He's been making the
rounds here this month!) I sewed the wrong strips together in four sets, so
had to un-stitch 8 width of fabric seams. Tedious and boring task that
seemed to take longer than it should. Maybe some of you have a quicker...

Completed the top. When cropping the picture, I saw the mistake. It's
gonna stay there now.

My mom by
lynne in toronto
My Mom died unexpectedly quite recently, at age 87.
She had been failing for some time, partly from early Alzheimer's,
partly from simply wearing out. We had moved her into a brand new
retirement apt., gorgeous building, near my brother, and where we all
could see her more often.
She seemed to...

OT what's cooking? by
Polly Esther[_5_]
DH was asked days ago what pie he wanted for our Thanksgiving Day feast. It
may be the 4th of July before he can decide. That dear heart ponders
serious issues very carefully.
I'm guessing he will decide on pecan pie. AND ! I came across a note
in my recipe book from Alton Brown. The...

No rootling/raiding allowed! by
Sandy Foster
Okay, fair warning here. DH and I are leaving Sunday *early* for a trip
to Mexico that he's wanted to take for some time. I'm leaving two
ferocious QIs in charge of my meager stash (so meager that it's *really*
not worth your attention!), as well as a dog sitter. The sitter is a
really sweet girl...

Border advice needed! by

So now that the top is assembled, I'm trying to decide among several border
possibilities. If you have a moment, please look at the Possibilities folder
and let me know which, if any, of the border options you prefer for the
quilt top pictured there.

Decorating w/ quilty stuff by
Ellison
Howdy!
I've asked y'all before if you decorate w/ your quilts, if your home says
"A Quilter lives here!" (Well, does it? g)
I'm always on the lookout for more quilty stuff, not too junky, not too
cutesy,
things that look quilt-related.
Came across this line of products by Jim Shore recently

My Turn for a Featherweight! by
frood
I've been watching Featherweights on eBay, and noticed that one wasn't going
very high. So, I waited until the last 2 minutes, and bid. I was willing to
let it go if it went too high, but I ended up getting it for a pretty good
price!
I can't wait for it to get here! Hey! I'll be able to take it...
