Thanks for Your Prayers by
Sherry
I finally got my surgery over with last Thursday and got to come home
Wednesday of this
week. It was pretty rough but could have been worse and I will just be
glad when I
start feeling human again. Something I had forgotten from when I had
bypass back in
2001, is the horrible depression that sets...

Fons & Porter DVD scam, sort of by
Nann
Months ago I got a DVD from Fons and Porter. It has quilt patterns, I
guess (I never watched it). Since then I have gotten several notices
from the F&P people (not Marianne and Liz personally g) asking, "Did
you get it? If you like it, send us $12.95." I have ignored the
notices.
Today I got...

OT good gift ideas? by
Polly Esther[_5_]
Tell us your greatest hits. Here's mine.
Years ago, I started giving the ladies in the family really neat
cooking stuff instead of jewelry they might not like or something else that
I thought was pretty and they tucked away in a drawer, never to see daylight
again.
I wasn't certain...

OT need pattern for baby gown by
Judie in Penfield NY[_6_]
I've been trying to find a pattern for a baby gown in a newborn size.
Nothing special, just a pattern I can use to make a couple of gowns for
a little one who will be joining us here in Penfield next month. If
anyone can help, please let me know.
Thanks,
Judie

RED ALERT Code 4 & whatever by
Polly Esther[_5_]
Just thought I'd warn you that the annual awful Christmas tree corny jokes
will be coming soon. Meanwhile . . . there was this nice man going in
Hancocks the other day. He was getting out of a red truck. Just couldn't
help myself. Had to tell him our 1st one. And a warning: Jenx will be...

mostly ot-today by
Taria
Today was one of the rare days I just needed to get out of the house. I
make most efforts to be a hermit but once in awhile I break away. We hit
one of the few last antique historic shopping districts here in So.Cal. We
walked until we thought we had seen every old thing ever made. Didn't...

What kind of wool? by
Sunny[_2_]
I want to make myself a poncho/shawl to wear while I'm traveling --
I'm headed to Phoenix in January for a couple weeks with my MIL (we
have quilt-making plans, and quilt shop shopping plans, and much
talking and sharing plans). I found a perfect, almost NO-SEWING
pattern and it calls for 2.5 yards...

Have tried a couple of times to email you with commiserations over Das Foot

So sorry to hear about Firefly - what Leslie said so well from me too.

OFF Topic: by
Butterflywings
No surgery.
Postponed for a good 3 months for now. I was working my way up in hours of
walking without das boots.....snapped the bone just above the 'plate' area.
I was being extremely careful and KNOW I didn't bang it or drop anything on
it. In the long run, I'm glad it was that and NOT a...

Sewing machine for quilting by
UuuuuuummmmmmM
Hi all!
My partner has taken up quilting since she's retired. She does
most of it by hand, but there seems to be a sewing machine component in
the process too. Her old Bernina is struggling - I was wondering if
anyone has any recommendations for a good quilting sewing machine?
Any...

Minkee scraps? by
Jo Gibson[_2_]
Hello, I am hoping to trade with someone. I only need a FQ of bright
yellow Minkee fabric, and a FQ of white Minkee, but I can't find any
locally and it would cost as much in shipping to order a half yard of
each online as the fabric itself!
Does anyone have some scraps they would like to...

A pressing problem by
Sartorresartus
OK. Pressing 101, probably, but something that has jinxed me
forever...
How do you press a perfect circle.
You know, you've sewed a circle (or real big curve); you've pressed
the seams and clipped them. You've turned it through, now it needs
flattening.
I roll the seams; I try pressing flat. ...

You'll have to scroll down a bit, and it won't be me doing the actual
quilting, but it is fun to be involved on the design and sandwitching side.

Pizza Sauce and Wine by
Rita L. in MA[_2_]
Hi Polly,
I just found several recipes for pizza sauce that use wine as an
ingredient. Most said "dry red" - not very helpful. One calls for
burgundy. And then there were a lot that called for white wine. I
would go for the burgundy myself.

BOM Help by
Kate in MI
I'm in charge of coordinating a BOM for our guild for next year. 12
blocks -- 1 each month. We're actually doing two -- one pattern I already
have -- found it free online. A Christmas oriented one.
But for the second I'm looking for something with a mix of pieced and
"simple" appliqué. ...
