Caveats for basacast melting pots? by
Hans Paijmans
Hi,
in our homegrown glory furnace or melting hole we want to
try a different melting pot. The first one is still functioning,
but actually is a mass of sherds kept together by molten
glass, and we are looking for the next experiment. Still,
we have had one month and a half of blowing two...

Clear glass coffee mugs by
[email protected]
I'm looking for a place to buy some clear glass coffee mugs to do some
etching on. Anyone have any suggestions on what sites I can find
these? I did a google search but everything that comes up is that
promotional stuff.
Thanks

How to Display Fused Glass Pieces on a Wall by
Jeff or Lori Hultman
How does one securely attach glass to a wall for display? I am making fused
glass pieces that I would like to hang on a wall like a painting, except
there is no frame. Some pieces are small (10x8) and some are larger (36 x
18, 20x20 for example). Most are flat, but I would also like to be able...

Lead vs Zinc by
Harold E. Keeney \(Hal\)
Am planning a 20" dia. medallion using all lead
came. Have entered into a discussion with other
local glass artists about the outside perimeter.
Which metal should be used - zinc or lead? Right
now the informal survey is 50 - 50. Any thoughts
about long term results?

Virus/Trojans by
Moonraker
One of the glass vendors must be infected with the latest virus/trojan.
I'm getting loads of emails into one of my business email accounts that only
gets used for corresponding with vendors.
Be careful of any emails that have an attachment(s) that are ~31KB in size.

Uranium Glass by
Harold E. Keeney \(Hal\)
I have seen and understood what Uranium glass
is, but never heard of Vaseline glass. Have visited
the Fenton factory - just didn't see, hear, read or
understand anything about Vaseline glass. Can
someone enlighten me?

Kitchen Cabinet Hardware by
Kennor
I'm building kitchen cabinets and I am putting in 6 stained glass doors. The
rest of the doors I am using European style self closing hinges, but after
using them, I'm afraid they close too quickly and could break glass doors.
Anyone have any recommendations?
I've looked for slow self closing...

A polishing disk from a washing machine by
Hans Paijmans
And now for something completely different: I dismantled a washing
machine last week with the vague idea of making a polishing disk
from it. Has anybody done this before, and are there any caveats?
The general idea is to throw away the inner and outer drum, but
keep the assemblage on which the...

Tempered glass alternatives? by
Mark
Hi all!
I had an unfortunate incident this morning: the shower glass spontaneously
shattered (exploded would be a better description) into thousands of small
pieces this morning. From what I read, I think this was tempered glass.
Anyway, to avoid future incident, I think that it would be best to...

Making Glass Table Mats by

How does one stick a picture to glass in such a way that it is
preserved, able to withstand hot plates on the glass, and looks neat,
professional finish - just like the glass table mats one can buy in
kitchen shops?
What type of glass do I need. What adhesive should be used and what is
the method...

slumping casting question by
stephen cartwright
I was wondering if this was possible . I have a 9 3/8" bullseye ball
slumping mold . What I would like to do is to fill the mold up with clear
scrap glass and then fire it to cast the glass into the shape of the mold .
I figure a fire at 1465 for 30 minutes would do the trick . Then fuse a
circle...

Mike Firth's Web Site II by
Mike Firth
Apparently, in moving the files to a new server, the file names are case
sensitive, which means a lot of my internal links are not going to work. If
a file does not load, look at the top line of the browser and if the file
name is all caps or a mix i.e. GLORYHOL.HTM, change that part to...
