Im so glad you are both showing examples of the art form clay can be.
Its an uphill battle, changing the image of poly from something that
everyone can do, and get acceptable results to the idea that there are those
who are able to work magic with it.
Its the difference between the lampwork that comes from India and the
lampwork done by the peoples of this group *and the ones they share links
to*
I have a saying... its easy to do *fill in the blank of the named art form*
but it is hard to do it well.

How cute is that!! I just want to know, what do these beads feel like? My
attempts, as mentioned before, came out feeling somewhere between rainsoaked
then dried cardboard and petrified graham cracker, but nothing like fired
clay or porcelain. Does anybody have any tactile descriptors? If I was just
lousy at it, or my oven is a loser then I'll try it again. I've lurked
around the polymer site, but no one ever describes the feel...
Live and be well,
Christy.

Feels like satiny smooth, rather dense plastic, or sanded-to-a-faretheewell
wood.

I dont tend to make beads with poly, something about having to sand and buff
that small makes my fingers want to weep.. but the ornament balls are bigger
so I make them... and they feel... satiny smooth.. its a very pleasent
tactil sensation.. the eggs and balls both beg to be touched and rolled
around in your hands.. its nice.

Thank you Sooz. You're encouragement really does warm the soul. I am
heading to the marble table to make some new things tonight as a
result.

It is wonderful that you support the polymer clay bead designers with
these lists you put here. It is certainly more appeciated than I
could say in words >^._.^< D.Jean (ACJewels)

Which is how I feel about the artists who make such wonders. I can't do
polymer clay -- hands aren't strong enough, I'm too easily exhausted -- but I
do love it so. I'm in awe of those who create canes to make beads....what a
glorious thing! It fascinates me.

Christy,

Do you have a local polymer clay guild near you? Someone there would be
able to help you. Or how about a local bead shop? They may sell polymer
beads, even touching the imported ones should help.

Other than that, what brand of clay are you using? Are you curing with an
oven thermometer to check the temp? What temp are you using and how long
are the pieces in the oven?

Have you checked www.glassattic.com yet? There may be some helpful
suggestions there.

what it is! It LOOKS like opal inlaid in onyx or jet, but faintly

There's a flag down on the play. 20 bead penalty for deliberate snipping out
of context for double entendre effect!
(Sooz has my address, you can send the beads to her for me.)
