I am starting to learn about craft shows in order to expand my marketing of
at least one of my crafts. I am wondering if anyone out there can give me
some basic guidelines on how to locate juried shows, what is involved in
getting into shows, and how to identify the best shows for one's particular
product. Any takers?

TIA

I'm sorry, I didn't realize location would make much difference, but that
goes to show how much I know! I"m in Central Florida. Does that help?

any good search engine will give you listings of shows from all over....
after looking for some myself I know it is easier to find american ones then
it is to find ones in Canada. If you find out when and where the shows are
you can find out if they fit for what you sell.
I have no idea what a juried show is...could you tell me ?? thanks
getting into shows..you usually apply and if they have space and want your
craft there they call you.
depends what kind of show it is..some shows take a long time 3-4 yrs. to get
into.

A juried show is one which essentially has judges to decide if what you're
showing suits the subject, quality, etc of the show. Typically, more arts
oriented shows are juried. Many quilt shows are juried. Anything which
requires you to send pictures, samples of your work, references of other
shows, along with your business info, and then they decide if they will
accept your application is considered juried. The juried Crafts Shows are
IME more selective, and those at which you're likely to see the truly high
end arts/crafts. The entry acceptance isn't just based upon your ability to
pay for a booth.

Really depends on the organization hosting it. Some shows are easy to get
into - more neighborhood type affairs. Others, especially those open to the
trade only, or with a wholesale day, then open to the public, may require
you to be a member of a trade association, and indeed sometimes fill up with
a waiting list to get in.
