View Full Version : Beaded Bezels :-)

Arondelle

In between fighting with Cafe Press and writing off-topic political
rants, I actually did do some beading, the results of which can be
viewed below:

http://www.angelfire.com/nh/arondelledreams/misc/bezelcabs.html

Now, I'll put them aside to "ripen" for a bit while I figure out how
best to attach the cabs to necklaces. (Suggestions welcome)

Oooh, those are so beautiful!

What sort of necklaces will you be attaching them to? If it's a
beadwoven necklace, I like to bead a peyote tube as a slider and
attach the top of the cab to that (a bonus of doing this is that the
cab can be removed and worn with a different necklace if desired).

Ok, I really like these. Especially the netted cab. I really don't have any
suggestions, though, unless you try something like a beaded loop attached at
the top.

Oh, the staff at Cafe Press were extremely helpful -- and my problems didn't seem to be their fault.

I was having an awful time uploading the large image files. First, I
kept seeing my transfer rates drop like a rock: I have DSL and transfer
rates should stand at about 60-85kbps and up. During these transfers,
however, it was something like 14-18kbps and down. Of course, during
these long, slow uploads, my connection to the Cafe Press servers would
time out, my login would expire, and the upload would fail.

I successfully transferred the first, "smaller" file for the t-shirt by
waiting until 5:00am EDT (Cafe Press is somewhere in California) when
there was almost nobody online. It still took a couple tries, though.

The larger file for the poster turned out to be impossible to upload. I
evetually had to email the file to Cafe Press' customer service who
then placed it on the server for me.

Since you live in CA, Sooz, this should be less of a problem. At least,
I hope it would be. Alternatively, send smaller files: Mine are heavy
with color data, and need a high resolution/DPI to print out crisply.
Simpler images with fewer colors don't need the high resolution and
large DPI, and result in smaller files.

Note: If you use their free service, you can have only one product type
(i.e., 1 t-shirt, 1 poster, 1 oval sticker, etc.) per shop. If you want
to do lots of different t-shirts (for instance) you either have to open
a shop per t-shirt, or use the pay service. I wouldn't use the pay
service myself until (unless) I could be sure of enough sales per month
(7 t-shirts per month for me) to support it.

The cool thing about a blog is that it makes what you want to say
available to anyone, but no one is -compelled- to go there... so if
they don't like what you think on first reading, they can vote "no" by
not reading any more. You can say what you want, and those who think
you are full of sh*t don't have to turn up again...

On the other hand, those who are on your wavelength can stick around,
and maybe join the conversation, and build some energy through
awareness that they aren't alone.

I like how the netted cab repeats the rounds in the cab.

I just tried the above. She doesn't have anything up for bid right now.
